It's been a while since we've done a battle report of any kind let alone a video Bat Rep. This has been due in large part to my lack of a computer that can edit videos since my reliable one crapped out on me. But we're back and here is the first of 2 battle reports highlighting the Bay Area Open missions for 2012 and my Bjorn Alpha Strike list. Enjoy and don't be afraid to leave a comment! Video, lists, and match analysis after the break.

Tournament Wrap Up
We had a HUGE tournament at Game Empire in Pasadena last weekend. I know I promised this earlier but it took me a while, I have a life too you know :) The final tally for the day was 32 players. Grey Knights piloted by Tuff Love won Overall, SgtPJBarker's amazing Imperial Fist army took the painting prize, and Brothererekose took the Sportsmanship award. More after the break.

How do you deal with "cold" dice?
Cold dice, they happen to everyone. You can play 3 games in a row with hot dice that go cold at the crucial moment in the third. You can play a game where the dice are cold only at the moments where they really matter. You can play a tournament where all day long your dice are so cold you throw them in the trash, buy new dice only to have them be even colder, which you didn't think was even possible. So how do you deal with cold dice? More after the break.

6th Edition Rule Book Leaked
![]() |
| Maybe just a little. |
1. It looks exactly like the leaked 5th ed PDF we got a hold of 3 months prior to the release of 5th.
2.It would be an extraordinarily elaborate hoax.
3. The FAQs and Rulebook seem to make sense.
4. Many of the "solid" rumors turn out to be true.
5. Some of the more oddball rules in the Necron and Grey Knight codices make sense.
6. A lot of issues from 5th get addressed in a very GW manner.
The biggest one in my opinion? Dozer blades, DEFF ROLLAS etc are part of the model. No more INAT nonsense where the Deff Rolla is not really part of the model so Orks can disembark on top of it etc. Truly I think this is real, it may be an early copy so things will be changed but it looks too real to be fake. The leak of this now makes me think 6th may be earlier in the release schedule than June, maybe not but we'll see. Here is the link to the file. 6th ed PDF Enjoy!

My take on a Grey Knights Army :P
I have had Grey Knight models since the new codex came out and I used to own 20 Grey Knight Terminators from the old metal range that I used to attach to my armies as allies for Apocalypse games and just for fun. I painted those 20 in the "official" Grey Knight colors. With so many GK armies running around now painted in the standard scheme I decided to do something different. I also am tired of building and painting Rhinos and Razorbacks. I like Marine armies. I like them a lot, sorry, get over it. I have 2000 points in un-built Chaos Marines, and 1000 points in un-built Loyalist Marines/Templars. So I decided to use a similar paint scheme for all those armies so I wouldn't need to build and paint anymore Rhino/Razorbacks (hopefully). I have been on a painting tear the last few days trying to get my 1850 GK list done for a big tournament this weekend at our FLGS. It will have at least 30 attendees and is going to be filmed for a reality show pilot based on the FLGS so the players are coming out of the wood work! Check out more info on that here. More on my GK painting tear plus pictures after the break.

GW... You're kidding right?
Just a quick post here. GW put up the advanced orders for the new Vampire Counts book. Firstly I am not huge into Fantasy so I didn't look too closely at the page but this caught my eye. Finecast Blood Knights, they caught my eye for the wrong reason. Not because they are finely cast, highly detailed, amazing miniatures; but because of their price tag. 5 "Finecast" Blood Knights for $99.00, yes that's right $99.00 US not Australian prices mind you. I am not one of those people who has been all over the net ranting about Finecast mistakes, miscasts etc. In fact all the Finecast minis I have purchased have been perfectly fine, but surely GW you jest. This is absurd, and I am one step away from being considered a Fanboy.

A Game of Thrones 2nd Edition Board Game Review
I am a huge fan of A Game of Thrones. My wife bought me the first book in the series on a whim several years ago as a Christmas present and she has regretted it ever since. I devoured the first 3 books, all that was out at the time, and then waited 3 months to buy the 4th. I then waited YEARS to read the 5th and got super pissed at George RR Martin. The HBO show makes up for it slightly, but still he has earned my ire and that should give him pause :) I bought the first edition board game over 4 years ago and only played it twice. The first time you played it was long and complicated, then you realized a few things.
1. The Starks couldn't win.
2. The game was super unbalanced if you took 20-30 minutes to really analyze the game.
3. Playing the game with less than the full compliment of players was useless.
So how is this edition different? More after the break.
