For this edition of my 6th Edition Workbench I am focusing on what I built Saturday when I was supposed to be at the tournament...
Yes, I didn't make it after all. However there was quite a bit of time on Saturday for me to ruminate over the new CSM codex and what I like and dislike in it. I really like Spawn but hate the models. I also settled on a Word Bearers based CSM army with some elements of traitor Dark Angels mixed in here and there. Since the main theme is Word Bearers and they had some of the first "possessed" squads I figured they probably had some of the first instances, outside of the 1k sons of course, of CSM becoming Spawn. So I took out a half used box of Chaos Terminators, a plastic Daemon Prince box, and a box of Possessed Chaos Space Marines and went to work kit bashing together 5 Spawn of Nurgle. Pictures and a short run down after the break.
First up I knew I wanted to run some bikers, or at least a Lord on a bike, with CSMs at some point. I have about 12-15 bikes sitting around in various states of completion so I pulled out a bike that was built but without a rider. I then went about kit-bashing him together using a Khorne Berzerker torso, with the symbol filed off of course, a Possessed arm, head, and back pack rounded out the Lord. The bike was adorned with spikes and skulls of course followed by a Nurgle banner from the plastic Plaguebearer set. I will use liguid greenstuff to add Nurgles rot to the bike and some parts of the Lord and make the bike adequately rusty of course. The near final result is below.
I have a further 10 bolter CSMs to build for my Word Bearer warband. I finished building one of the plastic Aspiring Champion models and a FC Dark Apostle and I must say I like both those models a lot.
Still on the docket for my 6th ed workbench as far as building goes, are 10 Immortals, and 10 Lychguard for my Necrons. I think that those 20 models will be the last for my Necron army! I did finish the Comms relay for my ADL. I even made a Necron Comms relay using some bits from the Bastion set and a spare Death Ray off the Doom Scythe sprue. Pic below, and that's all she wrote.

Pics are pretty small, can't seem to make them much bigger on my end so can't really offer an opinion on the spawn, other than spawn in general are cool! The comms relay looks good.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I wonder what went wrong with the pics, I haven't had that issue before. I will have to check it out tomorrow and see if I can post some normal sized pictures.
DeleteYou've made better progress than I have with my Chaos force! I finally acquired all the minis and have been dilegently cleaning sprue burrs and mold lines for the last few weeks. I'm hoping to actually start assembling soon.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your conversions in person!
