Hobby Blitz: Necron Army in 5 Days; DAY 4!

Well here is the big update!  I did this work on Monday, it turned out I had quite a bit of time to work on the army Monday and made a huge amount of progress.  All that is left is basing, the 1 Nightscythe that came late and the 5 Deathmarks all of which are built and primed at this point.  I may actually make the 5 day goal even though I missed the by Tuesday goal.  I took yesterday, Tuesday, off completely from modelling/painting and just relaxed to recharge myself.  I did however get my first game in with the army last night at our league night and the army works very well.  Lots of pictures after the break.
I will let the pictures speak for themselves for a bit and fill in a little here and there as they go.

I decided to ink the Gold with Green, this was Disdainfuls suggestion.  He came over the other day to trade his Menoth army for my Khador and saw the Necrons sprawled across the table.  He immediately suggested using green wash instead of the brown/red I usually use and he was right, it looks fantastic.  The pictures I will take on Saturday at our local tournament will show this off much better.

I learned a few things from this painting blitz on how to speed up the process for future Necrons.  First the bases should have the crystals and stones glues on prior to the flight stand and they should be primed before the flight stand is put on as well!  It saves a lot of headaches and brush finagling later.

The second thing I learned is that the Nightscythes can be much easier to paint than I made them.  First off the weapons and portal will be separate and painted separate and only glued on when the painting is completely finished.  The light blue in the circle recesses and the red on the circuits will be done prior to the turquoise.  By doing it after on the first 4 there was a lot of touch ups to do.  Those few simple shortcuts will go a long way to making the completion of the army much easier.

I will probably do all the basing, Deathmarks, and last Nightscythe tonight or tomorrow so I can meet my 5 day goal.  I will certainly have the army finished for the tournament Saturday and I can't wait to play the army in a really competitive atmosphere.  Here's to no Allies and no Fortifications in this list!

Total time for Day 4: 3.5 hours.
