Warhammer 40k Masters Series

Masters of WW2
I have been MIA for a while.  Life has a tendency to get in the way of blogging, I had the end of the trimester at work so there was a ton of grading I had to do, plus having a 14 month old and an expectant wife sometimes means this blog of mine takes a bit of a back seat!  Things have calmed down a bit and despite my lack of posting due to a busy schedule I haven't missed much gaming or hobby time.  Priorities are priorities and finishing off my Grey Knight army and playing some games has remained near the top of my list.  Along those lines I wanted to take the chance to introduce anyone reading this blog to Disdainful's latest brain child.  The Warhammer Masters Series.  It is a 40k, and Fantasy meh, league series that features two leagues being run at Game Empire Pasadena and Game Empire San Diego.  The culmination of the series is a showdown between the winner from each league at Game Empire in Pasadena to fight a best of 3 bout for a $500 cash prize and the Warhammer Master title!  More after the break.

Like I said this is Ds' baby and he has done an amazing job organizing the league in the North so far, and the overall lay out of the series.  Each store is responsible for organizing their league how they see fit, with a playoff system etc.  Once both leagues have a clear winner they meet up for the final best of 3 match up.  The Southern Conference based at Game Empire San Diego has had their league under way for quite a while now and our league in the North has gotten off to a great start.  Several members of the league run blogs and post bat reps on DakkaDakka pretty regularly so keep an eye out.  Plus I plan to do a few Battle Reports of my own, time permitting of course...

I am not going to discuss the particulars of the league(s) too much at this point but I did want to provide the league rules, which are an extensive 13 pages, so you can all take a look and see what we're up to.  I think the most interesting aspect of the league is the Cash prize.  I have pushed the idea for a while now that tournaments should have Cash prizes and prize support.  I understand the draw backs to cash prizes such as a chance of increased cheating, poor sportsmanship etc and if you feel that way I understand and partially agree.  I think with a league format like this where the final showdown is the culmination of several months of play the greed factor plays less of a role.  Anyways here is a look at the rules, enjoy!
