I am now officially excited to start my Necron project. I have held off starting work on anything to do with it until I got to see some of the rules, and thanks to GWs new "marketing" policy I had to wait a while. But GW threw the stuff up for advanced order and along with the nice pictures they included some of the rules and stat lines. Excellent stuff in there. You can comb through it all here or you can look on after the break for a basic breakdown of the good stuff.

Holiday Specials from GW.
Looks like a little tid bit on the GW holiday specials has been dropped. Dark Eldar get a Megaforce for sure.
This box would be better if you took out the Raider and added two more Venoms, hell I might actually buy 3 of them if that were the case! 3 boxes would equal instant tournament level DE army. GW misses another great chance at making a tone of money. If you take a look at the top of the pic you will notice a Skaven Army box set also. The ever present Champions of GW, er I mean the Imperium... The Space Marines will once again be recipients of a Megaforce.
I must say though that this Megaforce looks a lot better than some of the ones in the past, although I miss getting Terminators in the set. Then again 6th ed will probably be looking to nerf the TH/SS termies anyways. Again, look at the top of the pic and notice that High Elves will also be getting a special Holiday Army box. To sum it up: 40k is getting at least a Dark Eldar and Space Marine Megaforce and Fantasy is getting at least a Skaven and High Elf Army.

My Take on 6th ed Rumors.
There has been a lot of rumors and buzz coming out of the GW pipeworks lately. An awful lot in fact for a company that is supposedly keeping a super tight lid on things now... Be that as it may, and you may reference my picture on all this, the rumor mill has me interested in not only Necrons(!) but also seeing what 6th edition has in store for us. After the the break I will discuss the latest rumors and what I think of them.

The Myth of Casual Gaming.
Casual gaming is a myth. Yes, by all means freak out and send me hate mail and post comments about how I am helping to ruin gaming prior to reading the whole article, but the truth still stands. If you play a game, whether it is in a tournament for a prize or against your best friend in the basement you are always playing to have fun, unless you're a douche, but you are also playing to win. All gaming is competitive by nature because all games are designed to have a winner or a loser. Please note: I didn't say league gaming, story driven gaming, escalation gaming, or pick up gaming is a myth. Just that playing "casual gaming" is a myth. Read on for more or just start blazing away now, you're choice.

40k; it's all about the Shooting Phase babaaaay.
There has been a steady shift in 40k since the beginning of 5th edition. Simply put the the game as shifted from a Death Star assault based game (Nob Bikerz, TH/SS termies, TWC I am looking at you!) to a static gun-line blow my enemy off the board game. When a codex came out it used to be that the better players all thumbed through it trying to find that Close Combat unit that would make our opponents cry like little girls and roll up entire armies. With the exception of IG and Nids all the 5th ed codices have delivered a Death Star unit to end all Death Star units. Then why is it that IG Artillery, Long Fang/Razorspam Wolves, Razor/Predspam BA, Psyfleman GK, and Venom Spam DE are winning all the major events? Because the better 40k tournament players have all realized it's all about the Shooting Phase. More after the break.
