Well it's finally here, the Bay Area Open starts today! If you don't know what I am talking about then go here to find out more. With over a 100 40k players and many WarmaHordes and Fantasy players in attendance as well this is quickly proving to be one of the preeminent tournaments in California, and this is it's inaugural year! This is of course thanks to Reecius and his wonderful crew who have put this all together. More on the event after the break.

Current Warmaster Cup Standings as of April 2011
Hey everyone I know it has been a while since I updated the Warmaster Cup standings. Yes, we are still keeping track and yes we are still having the Warmaster Cup! I have finally gotten all my formulas etc. straight in excel. It turns out the two versions of excel I was using back and forth don't like each other very much (imagine that, a Windows product not working with another one! Color me un-surprised) so I kept getting incorrect results. I have the scores up to date and accurate now through April and I will be adding the scores for May, June, and July this week before I head off to the Bay Area Open. Thanks for your patience with this, I know some of you have been impatient to see your standings thus for so here they are! Check them out after the break.

New Chaos Legions Codex and the Matt Ward Effect.
The latest round of rumors about the Chaos Legions codex, which was less new rumors and more a rehash of old stuff, brought out a unique reaction on the Internet. It was a reaction I hadn't seen with the announcement of other codices. Mixed in among the jubilation over finally getting a Chaos Legions codex there was an equally numerous, if not more vocal, crowd discussing who should write the codex and why. This happened to a certain extent with the Sisters of Battle and Necron announcements but the amount of posts on places like Dakka, Warseer (before they removed the thread!), BoLS etc about the Chaos Legions Codex ratcheted up the vehemence of the discussion quite a bit. So why is it people are caring so much who writes this codex? Let's see if we can't suss out an answer. Read on after the break.

I am getting really excited about the release of Space Marine! I have been playing the Kill Team game released last week almost non stop, much to the chagrin of my wife and painting table... Who else out there is really excited for this game!?

New Poll! What codex has the best Troops?
After writing the article about my belief that the best codices are "the best" because they have good Troops Choices I figured I would throw up a poll to see where everyone thinks the power curve lies. So please let us know your opinion with the poll or by leaving comments here or on the original article!

What Makes a Codex "good"? Troops Choices!
With 5th edition drawing to a close I have been analyzing a lot of the codices that came out in 5th and the codices that continually do well in the tournament scene and they have many things in common. The one common factor that I believe differentiates the true top tier armies from the rest is simple. The Troops choice. Read on after the break.
