PythNutD here continuing my Dark Eldar articles as promised. Sorry for the long delay...I had intended to write articles with my own painted miniatures to demonstrate sample models, however most of my painting time has been devoted to painting other peoples minis....so I have to do the naughty thing and use stock footage. Regardless read on after the break for thoughts on the generic HQ choices of the Dark Eldar codex and a few theoretical lists....

40k Strategy: Win games of Capture and Control.
At this point in 40k, with 5th edition having been out for a good long while now, most of us have come to the conclusion that Capture and Control missions aren't the best. It is often referred to as the "draw" mission and while I don't entirely agree I don't entirely disagree either. Recently I have found myself struggling to win Capture and Control missions, something I had not struggled with before. I sat down and looked through my notes on games, battle reports I have done, and articles I have written here on C&C and realized I had forgotten a major part of my 40k strategy. The Pin Maneuver. If you don't know what I am talking about check out my article about pinning. I will explain my lapse in 40k strategy after the break.

Dark Eldar 3rd Wave with Pictures.
Dark Eldar continue to be an enigma amongst 40k codices. With an entirely new range of models coupled with the longest wait for a new codex it is no surprise that it will take 3 waves of miniatures to finally flesh out the range (no pun intended). The second wave brought us many much anticipated minis including the Venom but the third wave is shaping up to be even better. Take a look after the break.

GW makes it official. Fine Cast is here!
Love it or hate it GW made it official today that the Citadel line of Fine Cast miniatures is on it's way and gave us a look at many of the models. Lots of information up on there site for consumption. Check out the GW Fine Cast info here.Personally I am excited about Fine Cast because I hate dealing with metal models. I am not however excited that they are going to cost more than the metal models did!

Moving on and letting go Part 2. It's time to sell an army.
I had previously posted an article talking about when it was time to sell an army or move one and what factors lead to those decisions. There are a myriad of reasons ranging from fiscal needs to the desire to abandon the hobby altogether. If you did not read it the first article can be found here. I finally decided to pull the trigger and sell off my Salamander army. It has just been sitting in the case at our FLGS getting next to zero play time and I find myself, once again, in possession of far too many 40k armies. The Salamanders were the logical choice for the ebay chopping block. I had several requests in the last post to let you know if I decided to sell my Salamanders. Here is the link to the auction if you are interested or just want to check out the pictures and full break down of what the army includes. Overwatch's Salamanders

40k LARPers? Is this for real?
I know most of our community has seen, maybe even contemplated making, 40k costumes for Halloween or Cons etc. If you search the internet you can find tons of examples of different peoples attempts at costumes, weapons, etc. Recently I ran across a company from the Netherlands that makes LARP accoutrement. Armor, foam based weapons and the like. I would like to lay it out there now that I am not a LARPer, my wife and I run the Drama department at our work and while searching for medieval costumes for our next production she came across this company and ordered a few basic tunics. When they came the companies catalogue came with it and I leafed through looking for Halloween costume ideas, it's never to early when your costume always ends up being last minute! What I found in the catalogue surprised me. More after the break.

Hunting Wolves: Zerkova's New Tier List
No Quarter 34 gave us a wonderful new addition to Warmachine: additional tier lists. I was particularly pleased to see "Hunting Wolves," a new set of options for beleaguered Koldun Kommander Aleksandra Zerkova. Zerkova is generally considered the weakest 'caster in the Khadoran arsenal, and is arguably the worst 'caster in the entire game of Warmachine. Can a tricked out tier list save her?

Tournaments: Starting over Part 2.
Saturday morning, prior to playing in a local RTT, I posted up an article about starting over with my Tournament play. The steps I took in analyzing my game, lists, and overall psychological state with the hobby and how those conclusions affected what I was doing. With the tournament a few days behind me I wanted to report on how I faired and how well the steps I took worked in hammering out some of the kinks in my game. If you want to see the first article CLICK HERE.

The Road to Redemption - Supplemental
Hello all,
It has been about a week since I last weighed in on the Road to Redemption, and while I'm not quite ready for part III, I do have the next round of games and their trials and tribulations to report. While I didn't go back to the drawing board per se, I did consciously try to refine and better frame my game with Haley based on an offhand comment Demoncalibre made. I mentioned the inclusion of an Ogrun Bokur in the list to cover Haley's behind, and he said "That might pay off; you're super aggressive with her"...

Tournaments: Starting over.
My recent tournament performances have been less than stellar, as my Anonymous detractor will quickly point out as often as he is able. With a lot of the 40k contributors here on C&C heading to San Fran in July for the Bay Area Open I need to figure out my game and get back on track. Analyzing your game and what's going on with it can be difficult, especially when you've been on as long of a winning streak as I was, or Charilie Sheen is. Sorry, I couldn't help my self. I came to some basic conclusions on how to assess my game and try to whip myself back into shape.

The Overwhelmed Workbench - Flames of War Edition
Hey everyone!
I'll be keeping this one short and sweet, since I know we're only supposed to be talking about 40k around here with the occasional Warmachine tossed in to make us look balanced!
The new Flames of War Vietnam supplement has finally come out with some actual support, and since yours truly is a closet 15mm historical fan, I couldn't resist the idea of painting and playing games with tiny little helicopters. Add to the mix the fact that I'm a huge fan of the movie Full Metal Jacket and can recite basically the whole movie verbatim from beginning to end, and it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that I'd be getting some of the little guys yet again, having made a couple of 'almost but not quite' attempts at regular old Flames of War in the last few years...

Since we are starting to look at doing battle reports a bit differently in the future we thought we would find out what you want since these are for you after all! We have our first two video battle reports under our belts and they both had things we like and disliked, but it's your opinion that really counts. Answer the poll and then leave us some feed back in the comments section here so we can make better battle reports!

The Road to Redemption Part II - The First Games
Hello everyone!
Step one on the path to gaining (or re-gaining) gaming competency, is, of course, to get table time. All the blogging, commenting, faction-book reading, theorizing, and pontificating are meaningless if you don't take some time to get models on the table, move them around, and throw some dice. Preferably against a good variety of opponents and armies, as well. Last week, I got four games in against four different factions and three different players...

The Road to Redemption, Part I - Groundwork
Hello Everyone!
The 10,000 things have been giving me a run for my money so far this year. In gaming alone (which, granted, occupies a large portion of my time), there's been two 40k campaigns, a new Flesh Tearers army, a bunch of tournaments both played and officiated, a new Flames of War army for the Vietnam supplemental rules, and even some terrain building.
But, none of that can ease the sting of my most recent failure...

40k Battle Report: Space Wolves v. Traitor Guard!
Hello 40k Aficionados!! Today I would like to welcome you to our first Video Battle Report. I know our regular battle reports are popular but they are rather time consuming so we have decided to try out different ways of doing battle reports to try and speed up the process so we can bring you more battle reports. As with all our articles we welcome your comments and suggestions on how to make them better, this applies doubly so now that we are trying new ways of presenting our Battle Reports for the consumption of the Warhammer 40k Blogosphere. Today we are pitting PythNutDs Space Wolves against Overwatch's Nurgle Imperial Guard.
